What Is Sewer Line Repiping?
Sewer line repair, also referred to as sewer line replacement or repiping, is the process of removing aging or damaged pipes and installing more durable, modern materials like ABS and PVC pipes. Because sewer systems have underground pipes, we use high-definition cameras to identify issues and determine the best sewer repair method.
Sewer line repiping addresses pipe systems impacted by:
- Cracks: Large or small cracks cause wastewater to leak into the surrounding soil, leading to contamination.
- Tree roots: Roots can infiltrate the sewer line through joints or gaps, causing clogs, slow drains, or pipe damage as they grow.
- Corrosion: Rust and other corrosion causes metal pipes to deteriorate as they age, leading to weakened walls, leaks, and eventual system failure.
- Blockages: Persistent clogs from grease buildup, foreign objects, or collapsed pipe sections restrict flow, causing backups and eventual pipe bursting.
Traditional Vs. Trenchless Repair Methods
Waterfront Plumbing has the tools and expertise to perform both trenchless and traditional methods, giving property owners maximum flexibility when fixing damaged or broken sewer lines. Contact us for a free consultation, where we can determine the best method based on the damages, pipe layout, and your budget.
Traditional Excavation
This method requires digging a hole to reach damaged sewer lines, removing them directly and replacing them with new pipes. While it’s more invasive and disruptive, it’s also often the necessary method when pipes are completely collapsed.
+ Fully replaces extensive damage or collapsed pipes
+ Compatible with any pipe material or layout
– Excavation can cause property damage to landscaping, driveways, etc.
Trenchless Pipe Repair
Trenchless sewer line replacement is a “no-dig” technique that solves the issue with minimal disruption to your property. Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining is the most commonly used trenchless method, involving the insertion of a resin-coated liner that cures inside the pipe—forming a strong new pipe within the old one.
Pipe bursting is another option for more severely damaged systems, utilizing a hydraulically-pulled bursting head to break apart the old pipe while simultaneously pulling a new pipe into place behind it.
+ Minimally invasive, reducing damage to yard and underground utilities
+ Faster installation process with less cleanup required
– Usually more expensive and can’t address fully collapsed pipes

TESTIMONIALS
Posted on Google Chuck CollisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had Waterfront Plumbing diagnose a kitchen sink faucet leak. It was determined that the age of the faucet and connection corrosion it would be best to replace the faucet. I ordered a newer style faucet on Amazon and Marco came back to do the installation. He was on time both for the inspection and the installation of a new faucet. He was courteous and professional. I couldn’t be happier with the work that he performed. I highly recommend Waterfront Plumbing.Posted on Google Grace JonesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a great experience with Marco and Vicente. We are remodeling a bathroom and noticed once the tub came out the gas and one of the pipes had to moved around and our contractor was coming 2 days later so needed the work done fast. They were able to come out the next day and finish the job within a day so we were able to keep our timeline on our project. They were punctual and very friendly. Highly recommend them! These guys are absolutely the best in our neighborhood. It's a one-stop shop, for starters. Our problem turned out to be a slab leak, seeping out from underneath the water heater. 3 other plumbers and a water heater group couldn't deal with this, but Waterfront Plumbing arrived same day, an hour after I called them. Vincente, went right to work with his leak detector, dodging in and out of our stacks of stuff in the garage, and tracking the leaky line through the house. He found the manifold in the wall behind the water heater, and cut the bad line. Next day, he and Marco arrived and proceeded to reroute the line up through the attic to the master bathroom. While they were already here, they affected some other much needed and unrelated repairs, for a reasonable price. The whole reroute and extra work were done in under one day. Both guys were very polite, professional, and exceptionally efficient. If we ever have another problem I'll call them first thing. I plan to have them back in the future to replace some 20+ year old valves that the hard water has chewed into. Thank you, Waterfront Plumbing.Posted on Google Nicole LeszczynskiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Father and son team were right on time, finished a difficult repair under a brick sidewalk that required some excavation and search with video. They also fixed a leaking connection of the main water line at the street. They were fast and efficient and cleaned up after themselves.
